Todays sports video game market is flooded with high quality games that cant come out too fast. There are branches of huge video game companies devoted to only sports games. This just means that a large amount of money is being funneled into the development of these games in order to make them more and more realistic each year. This all ends up giving the gamers more opportunities to actually feel like they are in a real game.
The first and foremost sports game franchise out there is Madden Football. The EA Sports franchise has made itself a part of both the video game and sporting culture throughout the world. Of course it is the most popular sports game in the United States because football is such a dominating sporting force there but this franchise is the hottest selling game each year. While Madden may be the only football game on the market now, it still does not stop EA from coming out with new features each year. This leader in the sporting video game market sets the standard for high quality sports simulation.
Now football is not the only sport that is popular as a video game. Almost every sport out there has a video games made after it because of the demand of the fans to be able to feel like they are in the game. Baseball games like MLB The Show do an excellent job of simulating a real life baseball game. There are hockey games like the NHL series, by EA Sports, that lets the sounds of the game surround the player to make them feel like they are right there in the hockey rink.
There are far too many sports series out there to really mention. Each year there are dozens more updates to these high quality series that add more realism to them. As time goes on, these games will continue to grow and progress to the point of being almost as good as being at an actual game.
